A Monday That Made Me Miss Bangkok

A Monday That Made Me Miss Bangkok

Monday started early, as it always does. I made a simple breakfast, did a bit of exercise, and took an early bus to the office.

On the bus, a girl sat next to me, and her perfume smelled strangely familiar—like something I’d smelled somewhere before. A woman nearby kept talking nonstop, and I felt myself getting a little annoyed, so I turned to the window instead. It was a sunny morning, and the scenery outside softened the noise. For a moment, the week didn’t feel so heavy.

The office was quiet when I arrived. I checked emails, sipped coffee, and tried to settle into the day. But by the afternoon, the pace picked up fast—three meetings in a row. Updates, timelines, system details, next steps. By the last meeting, the room felt warm and everyone sounded slightly tired.

Near the end of the day, the office quieted again—and my mind drifted somewhere else. I found myself thinking about Thailand, especially Bangkok: warm evenings, street food, bright lights, and that feeling of time moving a little slower. I had planned to spend New Year’s there, but the holidays are too close now, and my time off is already packed. It’s too late to arrange it.

Still, it didn’t feel like a loss—just a delay. Work ends for the day, but travel plans don’t disappear. They wait.

Monday was over. And for now, that was enough.
